When Jose heard about United Way's 2-1-1 referral service, it never occurred to him to ask for help. Instead he called to see if he could volunteer at any local agencies using his Spanish-speaking skills. Jose received a referral to a free legal services agency which needed someone to translate documents into Spanish. Within days, Jose was donating his time and expertise to make community services more accessible to the Hispanic community. |
