Does anyone
here speak Urdu?
2-1-1 does, via Language Line
In order to ensure barrier-free access to
information and referral services, 2-1-1 of WNC is committed
to serving speakers of languages other than English.
We have a Spanish-speaking referral specialist on
staff full-time, and we go a step further by contracting with
a company called Language Line to provide 24/7 over-the-phone
interpretation.
That means that anyone can call 2-1-1, regardless of the
language that they speak.

2-1-1 Tweets
2-1-1 is on twitter! In the past month, we've
posted updates (tweets) about call volume, school
supplies, suicide prevention, affordable housing, disaster
preparedness, financial stability, fire drills and more!
You can see our page at:
If you use twitter (or want to start), just sign up to
follow us, and you'll receive our regular
updates. Even if you're not a twitter user
(tweeter?) you can bookmark our page and check it out from
time to time without making an
account. See you
online.

Flu Shots
There are many steps we can take to prevent the spread of
flu, including washing our hands often, covering our sneezes,
and staying at home when we're sick. But one of the best
ways to reduce the risk of getting the flu this year is to get
immunized.
Seasonal flu shots and nasal spray vaccines are
widely available at this time. A special vaccine for
H1N1 flu (swine flu) is being created and will be
available within the next month targeted to vulnerable
populations, such as children 4 and under, pregnant women,
medical first responders, etc.
Immunizations are provided at local health
departments. Clinic times for seasonal flu shots have
already been scheduled and are underway. H1N1 flu shot
clinics will be scheduled with the vaccine becomes available,
and 2-1-1 will be keeping up with the latest
information.
