Changes to 2-1-1's Inclusion Policies

2-1-1 has revised our Inclusion/Exclusion Policy.  The new policy was developed as part of our continual efforts to improve the breadth of information we provide to our local community.  Careful consideration and research regarding industry best practices guided the new improvements.  The new policy was adopted by the 2-1-1 Advisory Commitee earlier this month and takes effect on July 1, 2009.

Key changes worth noting:
  • Organizations must provide an essential community service in order to be listed.
  • For-profit organizations may be listed by 2-1-1 if they provide an essential community services that is not sufficiently available through the public sector and if they accept Medicare, Medicaid, or provide free, low-cost, or sliding scale services.
  • There are no fees required to be listed by 2-1-1.

Do you know of for-profit organizations who provide services that should be listed by 2-1-1?  Please contact us at 2-1-1 or 211info@unitedwayabc.org with leads.  Or, share this email announcment and our new provider inclusion form with the organization you have in mind.  The form can be found at the bottom of the web page that contains the new criteria.  (Link above.)

If you have any questions about the new guidelines, please contact us at 2-1-1 or 211info@unitedwayabc.org.
