About The Calling for 2-1-1 Act
The Calling for 2-1-1 Act (S 211 /HR 896), enjoys broad bi-partisan support and would authorize funding to assist states with implementing and sustaining 2-1-1 statewide under the condition that states would have to provide a 50 percent match to the grant.  Matching funds could come from current 2-1-1 funding in the community, such as United Way funding, funding through other non-profits, state and local government, foundations and businesses. Funding for this act would be administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

Free Tax Assistance is available!  Before you or your clients pay to have your taxes done, consider this: any household earning less than $40,000 per year likely qualifies to receive free tax preparation and may also qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which means more money in your tax return!

Local free tax preparation sites will open on February 1st, just as W2s are scheduled to arrive.

2-1-1 can link you to free tax preparation and other helpful financial resources.  2-1-1 referral specialists can tell you which sites are walk-in or appointment only; which have Spanish-speaking volunteers; which sites can handle more complex returns or potentially file back taxes; which sites are on bus lines; and more.  2-1-1 can also provide information about what forms and documentation you will need to provide.
