August 2008

Greetings!

United Way's 2-1-1 of WNC's e-newsletter is a resource for you.  We provide this as a way to keep in touch, highlight local health and human service initiatives, promote information and referral tools for serving your clients, gain your feedback, and strengthen our community partnerships. We hope you find the information useful.

If you have information to include, or have questions or comments, please feel free to contact us. The information in our e-newsletter is meant to be shared. Please forward and encourage your colleagues to sign-up.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Cell PhoneDial 2-1-1 from Cell Phones

Community information and referral services have never been easier to access.  As of July 31st, 2-1-1 is accessible by cell phones!

Until now the 2-1-1 number has only worked on landline telephones.  Now anyone can get through to 2-1-1 on cell phones from any of the 6 major carriers in our state (Alltel, AT&T, Nextel/Sprint, TMobile/SunCom, US Cellular, and Verizon).  During tough economic times, community needs rise, and it's important that people know where to call to find help.  Now all it takes is a three digit call for people to get connected and get answers.
